Codia
AI-Powered Litigation Intelligence
Product Strategy, AI Development & Continuous Collaboration
Client Overview
Codia is a Mexico-based LawTech startup created by seasoned lawyers who understand the complexity and inefficiency of legal research in the country’s litigation ecosystem. Their goal is to empower legal professionals with AI-driven tools that simplify how information is gathered, analyzed, and interpreted in preparation for litigation.
The founders recognized that access to reliable data — from court records to public registries — remains one of the most time-consuming and error-prone aspects of legal practice. To address this, they set out to develop an intelligent platform capable of transforming raw legal data into actionable insights, allowing lawyers to work faster, more accurately, and with greater strategic clarity.
While Codia’s founders had deep expertise in litigation, regulation, and case management, they needed a technical partner capable of translating their vision into a working AI product. Their challenge went far beyond building an application — they needed a technology ally who could design a scalable architecture, experiment with AI models, and manage the continuous iteration of machine learning processes in real-world conditions.
The core problem was twofold: first, to automate the extraction of relevant legal information from public data sources published by the Mexican government; and second, to build an intelligent layer capable of contextualizing and understanding those materials within the Mexican legal framework. The company’s founders sought a partner who could not only execute but also co-create, helping shape the strategy and product roadmap as the platform evolved.
Co-Creating the Future of Legal Research
Kirana Labs partnered with Codia as their long-term AI and software development collaborator, joining from the earliest stages of ideation to help define the company’s strategic and technical trajectory. Together, both teams mapped the product’s short-, medium-, and long-term goals, setting a foundation for an AI-driven solution that could mature alongside the evolving needs of the legal market.
Our team designed and implemented an infrastructure that combines embedding pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation, and natural language processing to process and understand legal texts. The system connects to publicly available governmental sources, performs automated data extraction, and integrates AI models trained to interpret legal context.
The result is a chat-based platform where lawyers can interact with an intelligent agent specialized in litigation. This agent can answer questions, retrieve information from verified legal databases, and assist in analyzing or drafting case materials with domain-specific accuracy. The platform reflects months of iterative development, testing, and fine-tuning between Codia’s legal experts and Kirana Labs’ AI engineers.
Throughout the process, the relationship was defined by collaboration and co-creation. Codia’s founders guided the legal reasoning and compliance framework, while Kirana Labs provided the technical leadership required to transform that expertise into a robust, scalable product.
From Legal Insight to Litigation Intelligence
The collaboration resulted in one of Mexico’s first AI platforms designed specifically for litigation intelligence. Codia’s tool now enables legal professionals to perform research, interpret case data, and analyze government-published information through an intuitive, conversational interface.
By combining domain knowledge with advanced AI methods, the platform reduces the time lawyers spend on research and data verification from hours to minutes, while increasing accuracy and reliability. The iterative nature of the engagement allows both teams to continue refining the system — improving model performance, expanding data sources, and incorporating new legal domains.
For Codia, this partnership transformed an idea into a tangible competitive advantage. The platform positions the company at the forefront of Mexico’s LawTech movement and demonstrates how AI can enhance, rather than replace, the expertise of legal professionals.
For us, the project represents the essence of its consulting-led approach: collaborating with visionary founders to create intelligent, high-impact products that merge human expertise with machine intelligence.
