Auna is a leading healthcare group in Latin America, operating hospitals, clinics, and health service divisions across multiple countries. Within its ecosystem, Dentegra, its dental insurance division, sought to modernize how it accessed and shared business-critical information across internal and external systems.
Dentegra’s information systems had evolved independently over time. Operational data lived in one environment, financial records in another, and customer information was distributed across several platforms. Although each system served its purpose, there was no unified structure to consolidate these sources, making it difficult for teams to obtain a single, reliable view of the business.
The company was in the process of deploying a supplier management platform that demanded clean, connected data. This need highlighted a broader problem: Dentegra required a centralized, secure, and scalable infrastructure that could not only support this implementation but also serve as the foundation for future integrations. The challenge was to design a system capable of bridging fragmented data while maintaining strict healthcare compliance standards and enabling the internal IT team to manage access and governance independently.
Engineering a Unified Data Layer for Connected Healthcare
Kirana Labs worked hand in hand with Auna’s internal IT department to design and deploy a cloud-based infrastructure on AWS that unified operational and financial data through a single, secure access layer. The approach combined technical precision with strategic foresight: our goal was not merely to complete one integration, but to create the digital backbone for all future data initiatives across the organization.
The engagement began with an in-depth mapping of the existing data landscape, tracing how information flowed between the ERP, CRM, and financial systems. From there, the team architected a modular solution hosted on AWS, incorporating services such as Cognito for authentication, Lambda for serverless computation, and an API Gateway that exposed curated data endpoints to authorized stakeholders.
Rather than functioning as an external vendor, Kirana Labs operated as an extension of Auna’s team. A project manager and two data/software engineers integrated directly into their workflows, collaborating daily with internal engineers to align on security models, architecture decisions, and delivery milestones. This co-delivery model allowed Auna’s team to retain ownership and control of the system from day one while gaining the scalability and technical expertise necessary to execute efficiently.
From Fragmented Systems to Strategic Connectivity
The completed solution transformed how Dentegra accessed, governed, and shared information across the organization. For the first time, operational and financial data could be queried from a single, secure source, dramatically reducing redundant reporting and manual reconciliation efforts.
Through AWS Cognito, Auna’s IT team now controls user permissions, API keys, and endpoint restrictions internally, ensuring that sensitive data remains protected while allowing transparency for authorized partners. The system is fully scalable and prepared to support new integrations, including analytics dashboards, partner portals, and external supplier systems.
Beyond its immediate technical impact, the project reshaped how Dentegra’s teams collaborate. Data that once took days to compile is now available in real time, supporting faster decision-making and greater cross-departmental alignment. This infrastructure has become a cornerstone of Auna’s broader digital transformation roadmap, providing the stability and governance needed to sustain future innovation across its healthcare and insurance operations.
